Remote User Access

Question

Does SmartContractor support remote user access?

Answer

There are actually two ways SmartContractor can be used to allow remote user access. I’ll call them “real time” and “detached”. In real time mode, all users run SmartContractor as a hosted application on an internet server – like a web based application, where the data is located on a server, and each user accesses the program over the internet through their web browser. In this scenario, all data updates are reflected to all users in real time. This approach requires that all users have internet access in order to run SmartContractor.

“Detached” mode allows users connect a laptop to their office network, take a copy of the SmartContractor database offline (onto the laptop’s local hard drive), take the laptop with them into the field and make any changes, then return to the office, connect to the network, and merge their changes into the office database.
