To print an Allowance Variance Document, click on Documents in the shortcut menu, then click on Allowance Variances.
The Print Allowance Variance form prints the Allowance Variance merge document that comes with Smart Contractor.
Allowance items cost may differ from the amount estimated in the job,
depending on the specific items or materials selected by the customer.
To designate an item as an Allowance Item, check the "Allowance Item:"
box in the Edit Job Estimate form.
The list of allowance items in the contract can be viewed in the Allowance Schedule Listing report.

Once you have modified your Allowance Variance merge document for your needs, you are ready to print it using the Print Allowance Variance form. The following is a description of the prompts on the Print Allowance Variance form:

Check to display item resources below each job item. |

Check to display item notes below each job item. |
Display Cost Categories |
Check to display allowance amounts broken down by cost category. |
View Button |
Click to view a print image of the merged document. |
Print Button |
Click to print the merged document. |
Email Button |
The Email button will be enabled if the customer for the current job has an email address entered in the Customer Information form. Click the Email button to email the merged document to the customer's email address. |
Edit Button |
Click to edit the merge document template. This takes you to the Setup Merge Documents form. |
Export Button |
Click to export the merged document to an .rtf text file. You will be able to edit (and cut and paste from) this file using MS Word. |
Exit Button |
Click to exit the form. |
The Allowance Variance information that appears in the Allowance Variance document has the following columns:
Allowance Item |
The name of the item. |
Allow Count, Cost |
The allowed count, unit, and extended cost of the item. |
Actual Count, Cost |
The actual count, unit, and extended cost of the item. |
Over/Under |
The difference between the allowed and actual item cost. Positive number indicates actual cost is greater than the cost allowed. |
