Smart Contractor displays help information in two ways:
The
information available in both forms is the same.
Smart Contractor Help System Window |
To open the Smart Contractor Help System window, you can...
If a form is open, the help system will display information about that form. If no forms are open, the help system will display the Welcome topic.
The help system window has two halves (panes), and a tool bar at the top. The left pane has a "tabbed" box; one tab shows the Table of Contents, the other tab shows the Index. The help text is shown in the right half of the help window.
To make the help system window larger (so you can see more text), drag the lower left corner of the help window.
To make the left or right pane of the help system window larger or smaller (so you can see more text, or more of the table of contents), drag the center divider of the help window.
Table Of Contents |
The table of contents is in the first tab of the left pane of the help window.
In the table of contents, topic folders are represented by a "folder" icon with a "+" box on the left. To open a folder, click on the "+" box, or double-click on the folder name.
Topics are represented by a "page" icon. To view a topic, click on it.
Index |
The Index is in the second tab of the left half of the help window.
The Index prompts for a keyword to find. Enter a keyword. Topics represented by the keyword will be listed in the box below in alphabetical order. Double click on an entry to view the topic.
Reading A Topic |
The topic appears in the right pane of the help window.
Use the scroll bar on the right side of topic pane to scroll the text.
Click on blue underlined text to jump to a topic reference by the blue text.
Click on the "Back" button at the top of the help window to return to the previous topic.
Multiple Help Windows |
Each time you press F1, or click the ? button, a new help window will open, and a button for the help window will appear in the Windows task bar (at the bottom of the screen). You can open as many help windows as you like. All of the Smart Contractor help windows will be closed automatically when you exit Smart Contractor.
Smart Contractor Tutorial Mode Help |
To open Smart Contractor Tutorial Mode Help, you can...
If a form is open, the Tutorial Help window will appear on the right side of the screen, with information about that form. As the focus moves from one prompt to another on the form, the Tutorial Help window will navigate to the help text for the current prompt.
If no forms are open, the Tutorial Help window will display the Welcome topic.
The Tutorial Help window has three buttons at the top: Back, Forward, and Close.
Click Back to go to the previous topic. Click Forward to go to the next topic (in sequence, after you have clicked Back one or more times). Click Close to close the Tutorial Mode window.
