To create a new Smart Contractor database, select the New Database option in the File Menu at the top left of the screen.
The New Database menu option allows you to create a new (empty) Smart Contractor database. This may be necessary if you need to operate more than one company, and you want to keep the data for each company separate.
You may also want to do this after you purchase a Smart Contractor license and you want to start working with an empty database, instead of keeping the sample data that comes in the demonstration version of the program.
When you select the New Database menu option, the Smart Contractor Database Folder form appears to allow you to specify the folder in which to create the new database.
Note: You must specify a different folder than the folder in which the current database is located. Smart Contractor can only store one database per folder.
If you need to create a new folder for the new database, open Windows Explorer, and use File > New > Folder to create a new folder.
The Database Folder form has two "tabs", labeled Mapped Drive, and UNC. Use the Mapped Drive tab to select the database folder on your computer's "C:" drive, or on a "mapped" drive. Use the UNC tab to set the database folder on a network using a UNC path.
