To open the Boilerplate text entry form, click Setup in the dropdown menu, then click Documents, then click Boilerplate Text.
The Boilerplate Text entry form allows you to create or modify any number of Boilerplate Texts to be merged into merge documents.
As well as merging company, customer, and job data into merge documents, you can also merge your own boilerplate texts. You can create any number of boilerplate texts.
Boilerplate text can also contain company, customer, and job data merge
fields.
Merge documents merge boilerplate texts into the document when they are printed.
The Setup Boilerplate form has the following prompts:
Boilerplate Text to Add or Edit: |
Select the name of the boilerplate text to edit from the drop-down list, or type a new name to create a new boilerplate text. |
Boilerplate Name: |
Enter the name of the boilerplate text. This will appear in the list of merge fields in the Setup Merge Document form. |
Add button |
Click Add to create a new boilerplate text. |
Type: |
The Type prompt determines which merge fields will be available in the Merge Field List (below). Not all merge data is available to all merge documents because some merge data requires you to select a particular record (Quote Request, Purchase Order, Invoice, etc.) before the merge document can be generated. |
Status |
Normal status is "Active". You can set the status to "Inactive" to retain a boilerplate text in the database, but prevent it from being used. Set the status to "Deleted" to remove the boilerplate text from the database. |
Merge Field |
The Merge Field prompt provides a drop-down list of all data elements that can be merged into a boilerplate text. |
To Create Boilerplate Text |
To create a boilerplate text, type text in the word
processor window, and drag and drop merge fields from the merge field
drop-down list into your document. To drag and drop a merge field into the document:

OK button |
When you have finished editing the document, Click OK to save it. |
Cancel button |
Click Cancel to close the document without saving changes. |
Left and Right arrow buttons |
The left and right arrow buttons allow you to skip from one boilerplate text to another (alphabetically, by name). |
