I would be happy to comment on my experience with the SmartContractor program...
First, let me explain that we are a small/med sized general construction company with about 15 employees. I was looking for a software package to assist primarily with job costing and invoicing. I tried many demo versions of other job costing and accounting software and in the end selected Smart Contractor.
I have been very satisfied with both the program itself as well as the excellent customer service provided by Dan and the others at Smart Contractor.
Smart contractor is a very versatile yet surprisingly simple program to use. I am now able to track job costs in real time and invoice all current costs in just minutes. It has literally cut what used to take days to do down to hours. It has many other useful features too. You can cross check purchases from vendor invoices against purchase input in the program with a simple report, making make sure purchases were not overlooked if receipts were not turned in. You can gather information necessary for workers comp reports. Although we do not integrate our SC with QuickBooks, it is possible to do so. I preferred to use SC as a stand alone job costing/invoicing program and keep our current accounting system in place. I do use SC to track all our overhead costs by setting up a job called "overhead" and having items set up for different types of costs (like utilities, insurance, etc. )
There are so many ways you can use SC to help organize and report company information. Dan has been incredible to work with. He will listen to any issues you are having with the software and assist you in finding a solution to meet your specific needs. In rare cases when a simple solution cannot be found he is willing to develop a modification to the program that will work for you. Dan is personally involved in the programming so he is thoroughly knowledged in all aspects of SC.
I highly recommend the Smart Contractor program to any company that is looking to organize their job costing information. It has so much else to offer also, like invoicing, estimating, tracking employee time, etc.
